Liebster Award

I had never actually heard of the Liebster Award before the lovely Laura from Fashion for 21 and Holly from i2style nominated me. I checked it out and instantly couldn't wait to get involved and do it myself!

Apparently the Liebster Award is aimed at newer bloggers that are less known. The rules are pretty simple: once you're nominated, you post 11 random facts about you and then you have to answer the 11 questions set by the person who nominated you. Then you nominate another 11 bloggers and make up 11 questions you'd like them to answer!

I already did the 20 facts about me tag that was floating around a while ago, so I'm just going to go straight onto the questions!

Laura's questions:
1. What's one thing most people don't know about you?
At one point I had 16 cats (crazy cat lady I know) because two of our cats gave birth at the same time. It wasn't really fun.

2. What's your favourite beauty product?
It has to be eyebrow pencils/eyebrow kits because I'm obsessed with my eyebrows. I can’t even leave the house without my eyebrows done, mainly because I look like an alien.

3. Do you follow trends, or set your own?
I wouldn’t say I set my own trends, but I don't stick religiously to trends either. I like to pick trends that work for me but I'm not overly fussed with what is 'trendy'.

4. What's been your biggest fashion/beauty mistake?
It would have to be the bright yellow skinny jeans I wore when I went through my 'scene kid' phase. I still cringe inside thinking about those bad boys.

5. One thing you would tell your younger self.
Do not try and ombré your hair; you will look ridiculous because it will go ginger and your hair will basically turn into straw.

6. Who's your biggest inspiration?
I have no idea who is really. It depends what on really, generally it would be my parents (clichéd I know).

7. What's your favourite thing about yourself?
I really like my teeth because they have always been really straight. I like that I'm the most organised person I know. I'm also so determined and I always work as hard as I can at things.

8. What's your wildest ambition/dream?
I have always dreamt of becoming a published author. I want to be a travel journalist, too, that gets to travel around the world and write all about my adventures.

9. Worst beauty product you've ever used?
It’d have to be Rimmel Match Perfection without a shadow of a doubt.  It dried my skin out so much, urgh.

10. Would you rather have 10 cheap items or 1 good quality but expensive item?
The expensive item because quality over quantity.

11. Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed?
I’m not really sure! I guess I’d probably go for overdressed though.

Holly's questions:
1. What encouraged you to begin blogging?
I have always read blogs and watched YouTube videos, especially BeautyCrush and Thunder & Threads. I thought why not start blogging myself? I love writing and thought it’d be a great thing to get into.

2. Have you ever considered taking up what you passionately blog about as a career option?
If I could make a career out of blogging I would. It’s something I love doing and therefore would be a great career option.

3. What is the one fashion item of 2013 that you cannot live without?
I love that hair scrunchies have made suddenly reappeared. I can’t live without them now. I don’t stick to trends religiously so apart from scrunchies, I don’t know.

4. What was one of your favourite fashion items of the 90's?
I was born in 1996 so I wouldn't say I was a 90's kid and can’t really answer this. I really don’t like this whole 90’s grunge trend though. Long story short: nothing.

5. Would you rather be a trend setter than a trend follower?
I don't really have a preference, I just dress the way I like and don’t take much notice of ‘trends’.

6. Name one of your ‘fashion disasters’.
This is the same as number four of Laura’s questions.

7. What is one beauty product that you haven’t tried yet but would like to?
I have really wanted to try Illamasque’s Skin Base foundation so much, but can’t justify spending that amount.

8. What beauty product have you been swearing by this year?
I swear by my MUA brow kit. For only £3.50 it’s such a good little brow kit, especially for travelling.

9. What is one thing you have got out of blogging, so far?
I have made some really good friends through blogging. It’s the best thing about blogging, I think. I love interacting with other bloggers, it’s so insightful.

10. Who is your blogging inspiration?
There are so many bloggers who inspire me. I love Megan from the Briar Rose, her photos and posts are so well written. I also love Beautycrush,  Thunder & Threads and CharissaRae

11. If you could branch out into another area of the blogging world, what else would you blog about?
I'm not really sure because I blog about quite a lot of different things. I would love to start a travel or food blog though.

My questions:
1. What one beauty product could you never live without?
2. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
3. Who is your blogging inspiration and why?
4. What is your favourite thing about yourself?
5. What is one beauty product that hasn't lived up to the hype?
6. What one thing do you dislike to see on other blogs?
7. What is your favourite item of clothing?
8. What have you always dreamed of doing?
9.  Which trend this year have you hated?
10. What has been your biggest fashion or beauty mistake?
11. Who's style do you really admire?

The Heat | Film Review

Everyone who knows me will tell you that I'm obsessed with films. I go to the cinema so much and thought why not start doing film reviews? So here you go, my first ever proper film review...

The Heat stars two of my favourite comedic actresses in the world: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Bullock plays Sarah Ashburn a FBI agent known for not being a team player. After being sent to Boston to bring down a drug lord, she finds herself on the wrong side of Shannon Mullins (McCarthy), a foul-mouthed cop with questionable methods. However a friendship soon sparks between the two and soon they team up to bring down the notorious drug lord.
As soon as I saw the trailer for The Heat I was was excited. I knew instantly that Bullock and McCarthy would be the perfect comedic team. It's safe to say they they didn't disappoint. They worked so well together and I was crying with laughter for practically all the film. McCarthy played her character so well. Her character was so foul-mouthed and inappropriate; she had me in stitches. Sandra Bullock is one of my favourite actresses, she can adapt to any role so well, this role included.
If you're looking for a film that will have you in stitches, but with characters that you actually get attached to, The Heat is definitely for you! I can't wait it to be released on DVD because no doubt it will become one of my most watched films. Overall, I'd probably rate it a 9/10. I kind of hope there will be a sequel or more films with the Bullock/McCarthy duo!

July Wishlist
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7

I need some cut out boots in my life so badly; and how cute are these from New Look?! New Look has been on top form recently, I went in the other week and lusted after everything. Who can't not want dresses with skulls and cats on? I constantly want new things for my room, and Dunelm Mill is always the first place I look!

TAG: Would you rather?

I saw this post on the lovely Sophie's blog and love these types of posts. They give such a different insight into the people behind the blogs, so I thought I'd give it a go!

1. Would you rather lose all your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all your palettes and eyeshadows?
I don't really use eyeshadow/palettes that much mainly because I'm not really great with eyeshadow! I constantly use eyeliner, lipstick etc. so I don't think I could live without them.

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
Anyone who knows me knows how attached I am to my hair, cutting it off would be heart breaking but I don't really want gross, dead hair! I'd probably end up chopping it of, as long as I could grow it back (and wear a wig, because nobody would want to see me with short hair).

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or pink cheek?
I don't think coral really suits my skin tone, so I'd probably go for pink.

4. If you had £1,000 to spend would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Ooh this one is tough. I'd probably buy clothes, because I always need new clothes and have so much makeup already!

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
How weird is this...? It'd be really messy and difficult to apply eyeliner as lipstick, so probably lippy as eyeliner.

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
MAC, hands down.

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?
One eyeshadow definitely. I don't really experiment with eyeshadow as much I do with lipstick.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
In the UK, it's basically winter all year round (with the exception of this year!). I'd probably wear winter clothes in summer.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
I don't know. Probably dark nails, I'm a closeted goth and cannot resist a good old black nail!

10. Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?
I'm guessing eyebrow kits/pencils come into eye products, so I'd have to give up my favourite lip products! I couldn't live without filling in my brows, I look like an alien without them and that wouldn't be fair for other people.

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or messy bun?
Messy buns seem to suit everyone but not me. I love a messy ponytail, or even a slicked back one, so ponytail it is!

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?
I've never been a huge lip gloss fan. They are always sticky and I prefer matte lips! If it was lipstick or lip balm, it'd be another story, but I'd give up lip gloss.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
I've got black hair, so sharpie would look better than none at all!
I'm going to tag anybody who reads this. Leave links to yours in the comments so I can have a little nosey!

Favourite lip balms!

I'm so bad with lip balms, I have so many because I constantly feel like I need to pick one up whenever I've popped into Boots or Superdrug! My lips can get so dry and some lip balms I've tried barely do anything to help, especially Vaseline. I've never liked Vaseline, it's far too greasy and doesn't even hydrate my lips.

Carmex Lip Pot - £2.69
The Body Shop Coconut Lip Butter - £4
Burt's Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm - £3.69
eos Lip Balm (Honeysuckle Honeydew) - £3.69

Everyone knows how great Carmex are for the lip care! I don't mind even mind the kind of medicinal smell to it, because it works so well for dry, chapped lips. It's my go-to lip care product in the winter months (or basically the entire year for the UK).

I love this Body Shop lip butter ridiculous amounts! It smells so yum, coconut is one of my favourite scents ever. Coconut is super hydrating and it works wonders on dry lips. The only problem is that because it's a white colour, if you put too much on you can end up look like a walking dead person!

When I was in the USA I had some money left over on my last day and picked this Burt's Bees lip balm up in the drugstore. It smells of beeswax, obviously, but also a bit fruity because of the pomegranate. I usually use this lip balm when I want a hint of colour, but it is just as good for hydrating lips. I love that it is a little bit tinted, so I probably use it the most at the moment.

I also got the eos lip balm in the USA as they are easy to find over there! It has such an fresh, fruity scent. I originally got the strawberry flavoured one, but I didn't like the smell because it was too sweet, so I gave it to my sister. It's so hydrating but still light, so it doesn't feel really thick and greasy.

Lush hair products

After trying to ombré hair, which had disastrous results (think half my hair being orange straw!), I dyed my hair back to a more natural colour. All this dying and general use of heat hasn't left my hair in the best condition!

I recently took a trip into my local Lush, mainly because the hair routine I had wasn't really working for me. I had heard so many positive things about Lush's hair products and hoped they'd be able to save me from having to cut my hair short! A lovely girl found me some bits that would help, and gave me some testers before I committed to them! I did end up buying all of them because how great they were for my hair!

*Blousey Shampoo - £18.00 for 240g*
*R&B Hair Moisturiser - £10.95 for 100g*
*Retread Conditioner - £9.95 for 245g*

Blousey is specifically for damaged hair and dyed hair. The main ingredients are bananas and cocoa butter, which are both really hydrating for you hair! The shampoo doesn't lather up as much as my previous shampoos, which at first made me feel like my hair wasn't properly clean. However my hair was really clean, I could have gotten away with another day before washing it! The price was a bit off putting, but it is a really good product.

Retread is a heavy weight conditioner, again for damaged hair. Honestly I have never had a conditioner that smells as nice as this does! I can't even describe how good this smells; it is sort of fruity, but still really light and fresh. Retread really hydrated my hair, as well as keeping it smooth and soft right up to my next wash!

R&B is basically a leave in conditioner. Once again, it's another Lush product that smells ridiculously good. It hydrated and tames my hair so well that I wouldn't hesitate about actually buying this myself! I just comb it through damp hair and then leave my hair to dry naturally.

Lush's hair products definitely live up to the hype! I'm so in love with all these products, that I don't think I'd hesitate to buy any of them again. They really work well for my hair type and I'm really happy with all of them!

What's your favourite Lush product and would you try their hair products?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

I AM BACK! I've not posted anything in a ridiculously long time! A levels and trying to find work take up so much time that I've completely neglected blogging. However, I am back. I'm now fully committed to blogging because it's the summer holiday!
Recently I've moved down to Cornwall to live with my dad, it might just be for the summer or it might be forever. Who knows? I'll be able to do more outfit posts because there are so many better locations for shooting! It's just generally a great place, especially in this weather.

20 random facts about me

I have seen so many of my fave bloggers doing this tag and I love reading them because I'm such a nosey person! So I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. I can't think of 50 things about myself because I'm no where near that interesting, so I'll stick to 20!

  1. My full name is Hannah Jayne Sinclair. I really don't like my name. I have the most common and boring first and middle names ever. I've had two best friends with the same name... that shows how common it is.
  2. I have just turned seventeen, horray for me.
  3. I have six cats and two dogs; I really am more a cat person though. I will probably be the old woman with hundreds of little kitties everywhere.
  4. I'm full of useless movie trivia.
  5. I love anything to do with the sea: sharks, mermaids, whales, anything. I think I should have been born a mermaid, because I'm a total waterbaby.
  6. I make lists for everything because I love being organised.
  7. I'm really tiny, not even five foot and have size 3 feet.
  8. I'm doing a-levels in English literature, history and sociology.
  9. I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks, and didn't go to school for 3 years, because it got so bad. It really annoys me how people don't realise how much it can affect someone's life.
  10. I've never ever broken a bone (touch wood).
  11. I shaved the side of my hair twice, I don't regret it but growing it out isn't fun.
  12. I saw Noel Fielding in Camden market, biggest cliché ever but still greatest thing.
  13. I used to have nine piercings, I still have seven of them
  14. I love everything about the 1940s and 1950s
  15. I have really varied music taste, but I have a huge love for acoustic music
  16. I absolutely love buying stationary, I'm obsessed and people tell me off for buying it, especially when I don't need it!
  17. I'm the most organised person and the biggest neat freak ever
  18. I'm petrified of snakes, I can't even see them on TV or pictures, they make me feel so scared I cry.
  19. I want to be a teacher, or work for a museum (preferably the V&A or the Imperial War)
  20. I constantly want to change my room, it's never quite how I want it to look

L'oreal Studio Matt & Messy Salt Spray

Salt spray seems to be the new big thing, and I was curious about how good it was. So when I popped into Tesco and saw this on offer, I couldn't resist. Naturally, I have curly hair but it gets too tangled and messy without brushing. When I brush it though, the curls drop out. I thought this would be great to just give my hair more volume and that perfectly messy look.

I applied this dry hair and sorta ruffled it, just to give it some texture/volume. It instantly gave a beach-wave look, which is exactly what I wanted. I really liked how it gave my hair a little extra something. However, it did start looking like a mess later on but that could've been the wind though.

Overall, I did really like the product. It didn't really like the feel of the product on my hair, but I liked the results. The thing that I disliked most about this product was the smell, it smelt kind of like alcohol, which isn't great. I will use this again! I will probably apply it to damp hair and twist my hair round my fingers, like it suggests next time though.

p.s. how just brilliantly cute is this hair bow that my friend Khanada made for my birthday?! You can also wear them as bow ties, but I love it clipped on the front of a high ballet bun!

Ryan Gosling, hello. You should check out her etsy for some really beautiful handmade pieces from her and her Esme!

Do you think salt spray is as good as everyone says?

Barratts' Floral Wellingtons

These wellies are super cute! With a Cath Kidson inspired floral print, who can say no? They are perfect for this time of year with all the snow! For only £15, they are such good quality. They feel so much comfier than my Hunter wellies, which can feel a little tight on my feet/legs. I've fallen in love with these, and now I'm hoping for more snow so I can wear them!

Birthday Wishlist

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6

On Saturday the 26th, I will be 17! I can tell excited you all are for me... I've usually got pages after pages of thing I want for my birthday, but this year not so much. I am totally in love with these Topshop sunglasses, they're so fifties and seventies inspired. They'll be perfecto for my holiday. I really want to see whether Urban Decay deserve the hype, so I thought the Naked palette would be a good way to try it. How cute is the little apron? I love baking, and always end up with flour and icing all over me because I don't have an apron. Well done H&M your home department is on point. I can't resist studs, can anyone? This little coin purse is so adorable. Of course there has to be nail polishes on my wishlist, you can never own too many!

p.s. I'm sorry for the lack of posts, I've been sorting my blog out and I'll be getting a new camera for my birthday so I promise I will be better!x
